It's official! The judge has signed on the dotted line and the papers are filed. It feels so good to have Avena's re-adoption complete. What a pleasant last step in a long process. The best part was that my brother, Josh, and my sister-in-law, Jessica, surprised us and flew all the way from Wisconsin with their youngest daughter, Amelia, to come to court with us. What a great surprise. Thanks to my Mom, who was working behind the scenes on that one. We celebrated with a delicious dinner at Scott's in Jack London Square. It is our official celebration location, mainly due to the fact that the calamari is always perfect. Josh and Jess and Amelia headed back to Wisconsin this morning. As you can see in the photos, Avena wore her Christmas dress to court. She was pretty pleased with the whole proceeding, since the bailiff gave her a teddy bear.

Congratulations, Ben, Aimee, and Avena! Can you believe you are D-O-N-E? **Big Loud WHOOP**
ReplyDeleteWe are still in a holding pattern with ours, but then I haven't been putting any fires under certain tushes to get things moving either. We are thinking about a move in early spring (I say that with great optimism that we can sell our house in this market), so I either need to get cracking come January or let it ride until after the move. We'll see. . . .
Have a lovely Christmas, guys!
