These pictures provide a more urban perspective of life on the streets in Ghana. With cars stuck in traffic and everyone with their windows down, the streets are turned into a virtual marketplace with people selling ties, Coca Cola, tissues, air fresheners, lottery tickets, flip flops, fitted bed sheets, framed pictures of Jesus, super glue, and sim cards for cell phones. Life takes place in the streets, as it must, since there are no sidewalks. (We are omitting, for now, photos of the open sewers at the sides of the road). In the top photo you'll see one woman selling dried plaintain chips from a green basket balanced on top of her head. A small bag can be purchased for 50 pesewas (about 35 cents) and they are delicious.
